Here's a toast, to my first blog post!
For starters - This is a space for self expression, documentation, and sharing. I'd like to think of it as a virtual scrapbook and public diary. That being said, I figure it would be fitting to start with a little "About Me".
Recently, I wrapped up my college experience at Oregon State University and moved to Portland, Oregon in hopes of moving forward in life and beginning my career (Currently holding a Social Media Specialist position at a fantastic start up company). Along with the average post-graduation depression, I've had to adjust to living without the love of my life, who is currently finishing up his college career. Although my heart, and my kitten, is in Corvallis, I am taking this moment as a reflection of the past, and a focus towards a better future.
Now let's cut the serious crap and get to the good stuff: Music, Food, Fashion, Love & Fabulous Ideas. I don't know about you, but I feel that one of the best ways to really get to know a person, is to understand their taste in life's finer things. So here's a quick summary on my take about music, food, fashion, love and more:
I love everything music. That might be cliché, however it's true. Good music is good music, and there is no denying that. Through this blog, I will unveil my ultimate playlist, but for now I can give you a hint. Amy Winehouse, Nancy & Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Lana Del Rey, The Civil Wars, and everything Pop Culture. If there were a name of my music genre, it would be: Alternative Classic Pop Melodies.
Food. Foodfoodfoodfood. One of life's greatest treasures. I love to experiment in the kitchen! If I could describe a perfect night it would include: music from the above paragraph, a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, hair and makeup obviously done to perfection, and without a doubt, a meal made for two that can feed an army. If you haven't gotten the hint, I love to eat, but I also love to eat very healthy. Here you can find all of my special - healthy takes on traditional, home-cooked meals.
I'm a curator of fashion finds. I absorb fashion. My wardrobe is always boho chic, and classic diva, yet I throw in a little something new here and there. If you said I dressed like Kourney Kardashian, I wouldn't be mad one bit. Here, I'd like to share my newest finds, and obsessions in the fashion world.
Love is Love. Love is a verb. Most importantly, love is indescribable, unique, and yours. Find whoever it is that makes you happy, and hold on to them, because love and happiness are all that really matters in this crazy world.
Finally, Fabulous Ideas! Occasionally I have an epiphany, which either relates to something magnificent or irrelevant, regardless it's fun. So here I will pour out my random thought process into a little speil. Generally, these thoughts are sparked by the season, or song I am currently listening to. So forewarning, bizarre word vomit may occur.
As the conclusion of my extraneous, "About Me", comes to a finale, I might as well describe the name of my blog. French Braids and Cabernet, is a combination of two simple things in life that bring me happiness on gloomy days. It is a conglomerate of good hair and good wine, and more importantly, a great time.
So here's a toast to a new. Here's a toast to the past, and here's a toast to bringing it all together.
